We’re feeling grateful for the progress we made at Cleveland Owns in 2025, and the wisdom we built, even in a very challenging political moment. You can read all about our work this year in our 2025 Annual Report.
Here are three highlights from 2025:
🏘️ Our Co-op Housing program is moving fast: We provide intensive technical assistance support a group of powerful residents working to buy the apartment building where they live💸 Rust Belt Riders fully repaid loans from Seed Commons and Cleveland Co-op Fund of $630,000 (!)👯 We co-hosted public events like the statewide Ohio Co-op Solidarity Tour, the Cleveland City Council Candidate Forum, and Dolphin Tank 2, where 200+ attendees envisioned the seeds of a solidarity economy
In 2026, we have a full slate of projects to expand economic democracy. Here are three to look out for:
☀️ Supporting Cleveland Solar Cooperative to raise $10,000 from member-owners so they can build Ohio’s first community-owned solar array on the roof of a church in East Cleveland🧑🔧 Advising Rose Electric, a new worker co-op of union electricians that plans to launch in 2026✊🏽 Doing something never done before in Cleveland: With the People’s Budget Cleveland pilot in Slavic Village, enable hundreds of residents to have real power to make real decisions about spending common resources in the neighborhood
