Today Cleveland Owns joined our partner ConnectedNEO in submitting an RFP to build a community-owned broadband mesh network across Cleveland.

We propose addressing digital injustice in our city by covering every square foot of public space in the City with open-access network, like what you’d find a college campus. We have a cooperative governance model that enables residents to own and shape how the ConnectedNEO network would operate.

Cleveland residents know that access to high-speed internet is a right, not a privilege. The corporate, profit-first model of accessing internet is not working for the 1/3 Cleveland households without broadband access. It’s time for community control of the things we all need.
